Head of School & Lead Montessori Primary Teacher
Coleman Montessori Center is a primary level Montessori school for preschool & kindergarten. Our goal is to meet the needs of individual children and their parents. We feel our unique blend of academic and social stimulation in a caring, stable environment will be a positive enrichment experience for your child.
Coleman Montessori Center admits children of any race, creed, national or ethnic origin. Children ages 3-6 are eligible for acceptance. Students must have their 3rd birthday by December 31st.
Program Operational Hours: 9:30am- 12:30pm

Coleman Montessori Center (CMC) believes that choosing a school for your child is one of the most important decisions you will make. Our admission procedures are created to assist parents with finding the right fit for their child. Our multi-step process is designed to provide parents and CMC Head of School with enough information to evaluate if CMC meets the parents expectations for their child's educational growth. This process contains 5 steps.

5. Normalization Phase-In
Normalization Phase-In is a stabilizing peroid, in which the children and teachers get to know one another well. During this transition, teachers foster security and comfort in the classroom.
The term Normalization is used in Montessori schools for the initial orientation phase of the new school year, in which young children who typically have a short attention span, learn to focus their intelligence, concentrate their energies for long peroids of time and take tremendous satisfaction from their work.
The purpose of Normailzation Phase-In is to insure that this is an appropriate program for your child.
A positive Normalization Phase-In experience is one of the most important influences in the admission process that will guide each child to a happy and successful learning year.
Coleman Montessori Center uniform code is guided by the philosophy that uniforms promote unity and provide school identification.
Parents are responsible to make sure students comply with the uniform code set forth effective for 2009-2010 school year.
Coleman Montessori Center dress code is optional for 2008-2009 school year.
The field trip dress code is effective for 2008-2009 school year.
The Coleman Montessori Center's school colors are evergreen and white.
School uniform may be order from Lands'End School Uniforms.
New York State Thompson Park Zoo
The Thompson Park Visiting Zoo come to our school every other month beginning in the month of October.
McManimon American Sign Language Interpreting Services
McManimon American Sign Language Interpreting Services come to our school every month begininng in the month of October.
YMCA (Downtown Watertown)
Coleman Montessori Center will begin going to the YMCA in December. Please dress your child for the weather for our short walks to the YMCA.
Flower Memorial Library
Coleman Montessori Center is scheduled to visit Flower Memorial Library once a month.
Kidnastics Gymnastics
Coleman Montessori Center is scheduled to visit Kidnastics once a month.
Music
Coleman Montessori Center has Music Education every Wednesday.
Coleman Montessori Center would like to introduce our class pal, Boomer. Each week, beginning October 20th, the “Student of the Week” will be taking home, Boomer the bull-frog (a stuffed animal). The “Student of the Week” is a student who has shown responsibility, good manners, and kindness within the classroom. Boomer will stay with the “Student of the Week” from Monday until Thursday. Boomer will be coming home in a blue bag, along with a journal and story for you to read aloud to your child.

About Me
- As a Montessori Educator, I have
- set forth a goal of making Northern New York aware of the Montessori Educational Method. Children learn rapidly in an environment that is stimulating and allows a child to have a sense of control and choices while completing self-correcting materials. Dr. Maria Montessori's method of engaging a child in a stimulating learning environment is a technique that worked in the early 1900's and continues to work today. After giving birth to our little girl, my husband and I began to research educational programs. The Montessori educational program best fit our beliefs and desires for our child. This is when I began my pathway of becoming a Montessori Primary Level Educator. My husband and I love the Montessori method of educating children. As a result, Coleman Montessori Center was opened in 2005. Certification & Affiliations: Primary Level - NAMC Certification #13849, IMC Membership #1476, B.A. Human Services/ Child & Families Studies.
